About this Course

Students will gain a foundational understanding of the current field of mobile computing in this course. A hands-on survey of current mobile platforms will give students a strong insight into what it means to work with mobile software. Case studies of how mobile computing has energized social networks, re-written business models, and connected people across the far reaches of the globe will be addressed in this course. This course focuses on introducing the basics programming principles and skills for HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, combined with their applications in mobile Web.

At Course Completion

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Understand the current state of mobile devices, mobile platforms, and mobile technology.
  • Master the basic skills of web design. Understand the basics of HTML5, CSS3 and the proper implementation of good Web design principles.
  • Understand what makes mobile Web a different creature and the specific design challenges involved.
  • Explain the differences between relative and absolute paths and implement paths correctly in Web page development.
  • Describe and apply the basic skills of web design. Use color, images, image maps, and basic style sheet syntax to add design appeal and ease of use to promote interactivity for the target audience.
  • Create and modify lists and tables and related properties, as well as how to use tables to carefully control the structure of web pages.
  • Develop and use forms for the purpose of data collection.
  • Implement styles that are specific to a mobile platform.
  • Design and build a Web site using responsive web techniques to simplify the launch of an application.
