Job Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for providing network system design assistance, hardware installation, technical support and problem solutions for our customers via phone support, remote technologies and onsite visits. The main goal is to provide a superior technical customer service experience.

 

Essential Functions

Handle and prioritize a wide range of incoming service requests, including installation, service, support and troubleshooting of PC, laptop, server, network infrastructure and interconnects. Assist with server builds, networking infrastructure projects and other needs as they arise. Maintain accurate and detailed service tickets; participate in strategic meetings to support and grow the business; generate a high rate of billable hours; maintain accurate and detailed client records and documentation as they pertain to service and networks; follow-up with clients once work is completed; relay any potential service problems that may affect customer satisfaction; assist with in-house needs.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other technical degrees preferred
  • Several years of increasing responsibility and technical experience in a Windows server and TCP/IP network environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Barracuda, and Cisco products and technologies
  • Superb customer service and communication skills –with both technical and non-technical people
  • Understanding of network and server design and how the devices work together
  • Ability to work both in teams and independently
  • Current on networking standards and terminology
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
  • A valid driver's license and ability to drive to client sites
  • Ability and willingness to work scheduled hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. M-F) with occasional outside of hours work

 

Key Skills

  • Windows Server 2012 through Windows Server 2016 experience including at a minimum: Active Directory, Organizational Units, Group Policy, Microsoft DNS and DHCP
  • Switch (HPE, Aruba or Cisco preferred) configuration and design experience including VLANs and Layer 3 switch routing
  • Next Generation Firewall (SonicWALL, Barracuda or Cisco preferred) setup and understanding of ACLs, VLANs, routing, virus and content control
  • Understand how to configure WAPS, VLANS, L3 routing and firewall rules to provide secure access
  • Knowledge of modern-day threats, like viruses, phishing and spear-phishing schemes, malware, ransomware, etc., and best practices to detect and prevent cyber attacks
