Who We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for someone to join our team who enjoys variety, thrives on challenges and finding solutions and enjoys the process.  Working as a Network Administrator for Vermont Panurgy, you will be part of a team who designs, builds, troubleshoots, and supports cloud, and local area network infrastructure.  As our Network Administrator, you will work directly with clients and their staff to provide excellent service.  In this position you will deploy, configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot workstations, network, server and cloud equipment in order to ensure smooth network operations.  This work will involve both our clients’ and our own company’s networks.  We also have a thriving online Learning Center, where you will be responsible for the setup of these virtual classes.  Another facet of this position will be to maintain and update our website. 

Our hours of operations are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Monday – Friday. Occasional flexibility for work outside those hours is a must.  Work will be onsite at the Vermont Panurgy office in South Burlington, Vermont, with the possibility of remote work after onboarding and training.  Some onsite visits to customer sites may be needed, so reliable transportation is required.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Support, configure, maintain, and upgrade corporate customer’s PCs, networking equipment, in-house servers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Assist with the installation and integration of new workstations, server hardware and applications.
  • Monitor client sites for issues and required updates, including install patches, releases etc.
  • Support and administer third-party applications.
  • Manage, assign, monitor and perform tasks for customer projects.
  • Ensure network security, continuity, and connectivity.
  • Monitor networks (including performance, availability, utilization, throughput, and latency).
  • Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords.
  • Research and resolve problems[JF4] [TJ5]  reported by end users.
  • Work with the team to define network policies and procedures.
  • Research and make recommendations on server and network system administration.
  • Create and maintain work documentation via reports, work tickets, and SharePoint.
  • Administer local servers, network devices and accounts.
  • Perform routine maintenance.
  • Conduct server health checks as well as server monitoring and reporting
  • Monitor backups and recover and restore data, as needed.
  • Manage and administer Microsoft (MS) Windows Servers, Microsoft 365 and other cloud services.
  • Multiplatform networking device administration (including but not limited to: HPE, Aruba, Barracuda, SonicWall, Fortigate, Synology, etc.)
  • Prepare for and set up upcoming virtual classes, including virtual classroom PCs, physical classroom PCs and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.
  • Maintain and update our website as needed.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a network administrator role with 2+ years’ experience.
  • Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching.
  • Solid knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of cloud systems, server infrastructure, networking services and networking protocols.
  • Experience with network security devices, including firewalls, VPNs, network switches.
  • Familiarity with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) and ticketing systems to manage, perform monitor and record work.
  • Familiarity with the set up and configuration of server hardware .
  • Experience and/or knowledge of server virtualization technologies;  preferably Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and their methodologies.
  • Ability to problem solve and think critically while under pressure.
  • Superior organizational skills, including prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Highly honed communication skills to use with customers and with team members.
  • Advanced technical writing skills.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Ability and desire to work independently as well as a part of a team.
  • B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science OR equivalent experience and training.
  • Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+ or Microsoft certifications in Windows Server and Windows Client are helpful, but not necessary.
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems.
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation.
